[Addressed to Jennifer,
Patti and Amanda]
Seven months ago, we did not know each other.
Today, given all that we have
shared, I view all three of you as
intimate friends.
...
The
substantive
work product
that the three
of you
produced for
me knocked me
off my feet
with its
quality. The
teamwork/interchangability
among the
three of you
is something
any
great
professional
firm would
love to
achieve. (I
haven't seen
it in BigLaw).
Most
importantly to
me, the "hand
holding" from
the three of you
is what got me
through this.
I'm not sure
how I appeared
to you but I
was afraid.
Each and every
conversation
or email
exchange with
you
picked me up
and moved me
forward.
I
got the final
clearance from
COMPANY
yesterday
(background
check having
been
completed). I
start
on the Xnd. I
am 100%
comfortable
that I
am going
into an
ideal
situation. I'm
just today
starting to relax
a little. Some
might envy
seven
months at home
in shorts and
tee shirts
surfing the
web for a
few hours a day,
but it was no
fun.
I
cannot thank
each of you enough.
I feel like I
got A-List
treatment from
your firm, but
maybe you treat
all your
clients so
specially. I
am unwilling
(and frankly
unable) to
view this as
an end to our
relationship.
Needless to
say, you have
a friend for
life that will
do anything
for you,
anytime. We
remain
LinkedIn
contacts and I
hope we will
stay in touch
periodically.
I intend to.
As
you finish up
the week, please
know, and take
personal satisfaction,
that you did a
great thing
for another
human being.
Thank
you.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for putting me in touch with Jennifer Greiner. At first, I took her contact information just because -- but did not plan on contacting her. After all, I think of myself as capable, intelligent and having sufficient contacts to find a new job on my own. Also, I had a plan for what type of firms to target.
However, [when] I met with Jennifer Greiner I knew right away that she would add an expertise that I did not possess to the equation. Although I may have had contacts at other firms that could get me in the door, I did not have the experience marketing myself and negotiating. In addition, Jennifer proved to be an excellent and objective sounding board when it came to analyzing the pros and cons of various positions and we often talked through several scenarios, hypotheticals and other issues when it came to my interviews, meetings, and eventually, job offers. I can definitely say that if it were not for Jennifer, I would not have been prepared for certain questions and decisions that I was required to make--both on the spot and after consideration.
Jennifer is professional, always reachable and makes you feel like you are special and that your placement is extremely important to her. When I was under the stress of losing and having to find a job, she was there as a steadying hand to steer me in the right direction and to provide me with valuable guidance.

Erika, thank you again for all of your help. I can't
stress enough how much it means to me and what a wonderful,
positive impact it had in literally changing the course of my
life. I couldn't be happier!

I hope all is well. I wanted to be the one to tell you that I accepted an offer to join the commercial finance group at Firm. I’m looking forward to expanding my practice and becoming a more well-rounded transactional attorney.
I want to give you some feedback with respect to Greiner Consulting. Joi Bourgeois was instrumental in helping me search for new career opportunities. The marketing and network skills she teaches have been invaluable. In addition, she helped me realize the importance of developing and maintaining relationships. It was a terrific service and I’ll continue to build upon what she taught me throughout the rest of my career.

Thank you for putting me in touch with Greiner Consulting. I worked with them in my job search starting in September/October of last year.
They were invaluable to me. Before I started working with them, I was making very little headway on my search and was having trouble figuring out what I was doing wrong. It really helped to have two such savvy people guide me and provide me with prompt feedback and ideas as I learned of and generated leads. As I discovered when I first started my job search, job hunting and application procedures have changed dramatically from the last time I looked for work. Consultants helped me figure out what really was different and how to deal with those differences. They also helped me sort out the meaningful from the superficial changes in the job-hunting process. Through them I met up with two strong recruiters who helped generate leads for me; ultimately, one of these recruiters put me in contact with my new firm.
They also helped me figure out how to separate recruiters who were going to be helpful from those looking to make a quick commission. The recruiter who helped me with my new position made the effort to understand my interests and think about and look for a place that would be a good fit. He wasn’t about just filling orders. And then, as I scheduled more and more interviews, they were there to help me with interview preparation. They gave me an organized and systematic way to approach interviews that worked well. By practicing with me, they helped me make sure that my use of their systematic approach didn’t turn me into an automaton. They provided me with good gut checks on things and were able and willing to tell me what I needed to hear about my presentation tone and style. (E.g., wear some jewelry; change the tone of your VM message). I think their input made a big difference.
So thank you for putting me in touch with them. The outplacement services they provided to me made all the difference in my finding a position that I feel good about and into which I look forward to transitioning.

I hope that the use of a Dr. Seuss card somehow conveys the way I feel, now that the pressure of the last four months is finally off my chest! You guys have been spectacular, and I can’t thank you enough.
Joi, in particular, you have been invaluable to me throughout
this process. As much as your professional guidance has been
spot-on, I’ve really appreciated your willingness to listen to
me vent from time to time, and your unfailing attentiveness
and responsiveness. Thank you.

I wanted to let you know that I finally accepted an offer from company to work in their New York office. I wanted to thank you for your support during the last few months and, in addition, I want to specially thank you for having encouraged me to work with Jennifer Greiner.
During the past few months, I interviewed with a wide range of potential employers, including investment banks, multilateral banks, manufacturing (industrial) companies, international hotel operators, law firms and financial services companies. Jennifer was able to prepare me extremely well for every single interview. She profiled my strengths and weaknesses and effectively tailored her advice depending on the interview. Her knowledge about the different industries and, more precisely, about the specific approach that I needed to take in connection with each interview has been an immense value added. As a result, I felt very confident and in each case I was able to emphasize specific aspects of my career (or my personality) that were clearly relevant for the job and were of interest to the interviewers.
I am extremely happy that she was always there to support me (even during weekends) and to guide me in the right direction. She has been an invaluable resource throughout the process and I would highly recommend her to any other attorney that may be in transition to a new job.

My thanks as well to you and Joi. attorney reports that Joi was very helpful with great advice, mock interviews and particular help with structuring the job he decided to take so he can start in the US and defer any possible move to Europe until a later date. He really was thrilled with all the help and advice.
![]()
Joi, Thanks again for all of your guidance. I couldn’t do this and work at the same time without your help - nor do I have the experience or perspective you have. I consider you a valuable partner.

This is a letter long overdue and I am glad to now finally be writing to you. I am doing quite well and have settled into a new job that suits me. The change has turned out to be an exceedingly positive one and I am thankful for my good fortune. Upon my departure from firm, I mentioned to HR that firm assistance proved incredibly beneficial. In particular, I found the counsel of Jennifer Greiner to be invaluable. The success of my job search was assuredly due to a combination of factors – perhaps the market, my background, the intellectual property field. But among these factors is most definitely Jennifer’s guidance. I am not sure that I would have fared as well, professionally or personally, if I did not have Jennifer to coach and advise me. From the start, she was an astute, attentive, informed, insightful, and patient advisor. From polishing my resume to refining my interviewing skills, Jennifer’s expertise proved to be not only useful, but in my opinion, necessary. Moreover, she guided me through the sea of headhunters and helped me to benefit from their knowledge without being overwhelmed or exploited.
I have no idea how the exit process works in most cases, but Jennifer is someone that firm should consider employing with regularity. Looking back on my experience last spring, I honestly wonder how differently things may have turned out had I not had the benefit of Jennifer’s help.

Having spent almost nine years in one place, I found the prospect of leaving a relatively secure and known environment quite daunting and overwhelming. When, at my review last fall, my employer mentioned that firm provided outplacement service, I was initially skeptical. However, after getting to know Jennifer and using her services, I have changed my mind.
Although Jennifer did not assist directly in helping me find my new position, I feel that the process through which she guided me was extremely valuable. Specifically, the self-assessment process of evaluating and identifying areas of strength and weakness, like and dislike, helped me focus on what might be the best career path for me. In addition, having been hired by firm directly after law school and never having gone through an extensive job search experience, I found Jennifer’s guidance in helping me create an effective resume and in drafting meaningful cover letters extremely practical. I also found her practice interview sessions and her advice regarding networking skills particularly beneficial. Overall, I found that Jennifer combined many of the attributes that are important for a career consultant; she was friendly and understanding, offering advice and direction without being overbearing; always quick to respond, her ideas and suggestions were creative and imaginative, and her manner was both pleasant and congenial.
So, thank you for making outplacement services available to me, and please recommend Jennifer Greiner to other associates who are moving on.

I would like to thank firm for its support and understanding during a difficult time. When I first received the news, I was absolutely floored. I could not believe that I was being asked to leave. However, because firm provided sufficient time and resources, I was able to take my time to find an outstanding opportunity. In fact, I view it in some ways as an upward move in my career path, as I will become division patent counsel for an S&P 500 company.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the enormous help provided by Jennifer Greiner. Beginning with resume review, she was instrumental in every aspect of the interview process. The mock interviews we had were more rigorous that the actual interviews themselves. Thank you for providing her service to me.
![]()
I would like to take the opportunity to let you know that I found Jennifer Greiner to be a pleasure to work with and an invaluable asset in my employment search. She provided key assistance and support in every aspect of the process, particularly in the area of interview preparation. I highly recommend her services.
![]()
My experience with Greiner Consulting has definitely been rewarding. They provided me with the right questions to ask myself for career planning and strong pointers on organizing my resume. I also received solid advice – tailored to the employer and industry – in preparing for interviews and received great suggestions to negotiate the acceptance of offers.
Greiner Consulting knows how the employment market works at many levels and knows key information about employers of the type that would be available as though you were working there.
![]()
The attorneys I worked with at Greiner exceeded my expectations. I spoke with them on a weekly basis during most of the time I worked with Greiner. They had novel and effective ideas on how to network and find positions and comprehensive interview prep materials. They were extremely responsive to any questions I had about my job search and interview prep; I received detailed responses to my email questions, and both made themselves available for phone meetings whenever I needed to discuss something about my job search.
I met with Erika at her office, and she helped me create a strategy for finding a job. She had several ideas on how I could network in this economy, including: ... She was tireless during my lengthy job search, and always had new ideas on how to follow-up on potential job prospects. She also helped me with drafting emails and other communications to various people I contacted during my job search. She was great to work with - very responsive and encouraging and creative.
I received at least 2 job offers and a few interviews, greatly improved my networking skills, and developed relationships with several people in the legal community using the techniques and guidance provided. Greiner is an excellent group to work with and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for attorney positions and looking to learn about networking.

Amanda, whatever the outcome of tomorrow's interview, I want
to thank you for doing an awesome job preparing me.
You're doing a great job!

Erika Schreiber has been very helpful in my job search. She has demonstrated a quick eye for zeroing in on the talents and experience expressed on my resume and turning those into points of emphasis for my presentations to potential employers. Erika writes well, and she makes practical suggestions for how best to express my interest and qualifications for a position. Erika is also candid and transparent in her suggestions, and she has offered good advice about the benefits of expressing a strong interest in and commitment to an employer's business or mission. I very much appreciate Erika's help.

I wanted to take a minute to send you a note to let you know what I have been up to since leaving firm in December '09. After initially doing some consulting work with company (the firm client where I had been seconded), I interviewed with and was subsequently accepted by Axiom. Since then, Axiom placed me in an engagement from month-month at company working on M&A and joint venture projects, and from month - present at company where I am working on M&A, commercial contracts, corporate secretary projects, and just about anything and everything that an in-house corporate generalist may be asked to handle. I have been able to make the transition to being an in-house counsel that I had been seeking, and am continuing to pursue a permanent in-house position.
Throughout
this process Jennifer Greiner and the other folks at
Greiner Associates [sic] have been there every step of the
way. Initially, they assisted me in
working on an updated resume, organizing my job search and
networking activities, and determining how to best discuss
my situation with potential employers. I have had
many interviews, including one just last week, that
Jennifer or one of her associates took the time to prepare
me for personally. [sic] In addition to interview prep,
they have also made sure that I don't lose sight of long
term goals such as building my network and ensuring that I
continue to grow professionally. I cannot emphasize
how helpful Greiner Associates [sic] have been (and
continue to be) to me during this time.

Erika was invaluable to my successful job search. She provided helpful first steps in what had seemed like an overwhelming undertaking. She critiqued my resume, sample transactions list and cover letters, substantially improving each of them. She made herself available without prior notice on numerous occasions so that I could seek her advice on my pressing questions. She helped me prepare for each of my interviews by identifying questions that particular employers were likely to ask and working with me to flesh out the best, genuine answers. Most importantly, Erika's optimism and her attention to ensuring that I felt comfortable with her recommendations, made me feel supported and far more confident when approaching potential employers and contacts. I would highly recommend Erika's services.

Dear Jennifer, I have been meaning to thank you for some
time. Now that I have settled in city and my new position, I can finally send
this message, which is much overdue. I very much appreciate
your and your team's support during a year of many challenges
and transitions, not to mention the lovely celebratory lunch
that capped it all off. I know that you were very involved in
my progress and graciously reached out on my behalf. Pairing
me with Amanda in particular has been crucial to my successful
job search. When I started out working with Amanda, there were
many question marks, not least of which was that neither of us
quite knew which direction my search would be heading. It
turned out to be going into some unchartered territory,
including federal government positions, human rights
internships and finally, a placement abroad. Amanda was an
amazing source of holistic and pragmatic guidance throughout
this long, multi-step and unpredictable process. From
brainstorming dream scenarios to discussing networking
strategies to practicing interviewing, she was consistently
available and helpful. I really can't say enough about what a
difference having someone who spoke my language and understood
my values meant to me during such an important personal and
professional process. Thank you again.

Dear Jennifer, I wanted to send you a 'thank you' - it has
been just over three months since I began at company, and I am doing
quitewell, even excellently. Much thanks for all of your
efforts and encouragement in my difficult hours!

I am keeping my fingers crossed, and not taking the situation
for granted. I don't know how this will turn out (though
I have a good feeling); but I can tell you that I wouldn't
have been so confident and focused in my interview if it
hadn't been for your practical, targeted suggestions and
sincere encouragement.
Kudos, Ms. Greiner, for having a nuanced professional like
Patti on your team.

I want to thank you and Greiner Consulting for offering to
assist me and my co-workers in our search for new
positions. Patti Ellis was wonderful and extremely
helpful in preparing me for my interview at firm. I am happy to
report that I have been offered the position and will start in July. (Dewey
& Lebeouf, staff)

Erika
and Jennifer:
I just wanted to let you know that conflicts have clear,
offer letter is signed, and I am starting on Monday!
It was a long time coming but I think this is going to be a
great opportunity, it is a great comp package, and I'm
looking forward to moving ahead with this next phase of my
career.
I want to thank you so much for all of your help throughout
the process. Whether it was helping me with my resume
and cover letters, providing advice on job searching, or
just generally being encouraging and helpful, I could not
have done this without you. I truly appreciate and I
am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with
you.
All the best
